Timeline

Here are some ideas of explorers that you could choose from:
Leif Erikson – 1000 – first European to reach North America
Columbus 1492 – made 4 voyages to West Indies and Caribbean
John Cabot 1497 – explored Canada
Amerigo Vespucci 1497 – sailed to South America and made a map of the new land.
Vasco Balboa 1513 – first European to see the Pacific Ocean
Ferdinand Magellan and Del Cano 1520 – first to sail around the world
Book Reading
The Peacemaker read chapters 8-10.
Children of the Longhouse read chapters 5-6.
Book Discussion Question
In your binder there is a tab called “Book”. Open that up and write one question that you would want to ask a friend after finishing your assigned reading.

Read the Declaration of Independence. It’s in your binder under ”declaration”. You only need to read the part we highlighted in class. You can read more if you want though!
Opinion Paper
Please write at least 5 sentences. And write your name and the date at the top of the page.
The question to answer this week is:
Think about the land bridge theory and explorers who ‘discovered’ America that we discussed in class. Some generations learned the ‘wrong’ history. We could be learning the ‘wrong’ history. Why even study history if we could be teaching ourselves false information?
