Homework Accountability Sheet
Each week you will turn in an accountability sheet in class reporting on your homework and your progress towards your at home curriculum goal. Normally you will print them from here. This week, I passed out a copy in class. Here is a link if you need another copy.
At Home Curriculum Goal
This week you will set a goal with your parent for your at home math curriculum. You will report on this goal on your weekly accountability sheet.
Play a Game
This week we played Tenzi, Boxed In, and Tic-Tac-Toe Sums in class. Choose one of those games to play with a family member or friend. The instructions were handed out in class and can also be found here. There are some additional games on that link that we will play later in class.
Presentation Sign-up
You will be doing a short 3-5 minute presentation in class this semester. Here is a link to the presentation information. I would like for you to choose a topic and sign-up for a week by January 25th. We can make adjustments if needed, please let me know if something comes up.
Collatz Conjecture
Try the Collatz Conjecture again at home. You can share it with family member. You may want to try it with a larger number (use a calculator if desired). Keep track of the number sequence you try. This will help you to see a pattern. For example: 12, 6, 3, 10, and so on.
Remember to do the following steps:
- Start with a whole number.
- If the number is even, divide it by 2 (halve it).
- If the number is odd, multiply it by 3 and add 1.
- Continue generating numbers until your sequence ends (it will start repeating itself with a few small numbers).
