Class Summary – Pi Day:
In class we “discovered” pi by measuring the circumference and diameter of various circles and seeing the relationship between them. We also illustrated that the area of a circle is pi times the radius squared.
Homework for this Week:
- Print the Accountability Sheet and return it to class next week. If you are unable to print it, write down the information on a piece of paper to turn in during class.
- Work on your curriculum goal.

- Play a game with a member of your family or a friend. Here are some options:
- New games this week:
- Race to Pi Game: This is a game I handed out in class. There are a few things that might make the game work a bit better.
- You will probably need more cards. I recommend using a deck of Uno cards possibly with the wilds. Or you could use two decks of playing cards.
- It works better with more people.
- If you draw a card you can play, you may play it immediately after drawing.
- Let me know if you have any other suggestions.
- Roll the 1st 10 digits of pi (Tenzi style)
- Use 9 regular six-sided dice and 1 ten-sided die

- Boxed In
- Tenzi
- Tic-Tac-Toe Sums or Products with positive number or integers
- Oddball
- Hopping Hundred
- Mancala
- Rook: You can learn how to play Rook with your family using the deck of cards given in class.
- Play another game with your family. Most games involve math is some way. Strategy and critical thinking are an important part of math, so those are awesome skills we can practice when playing games.
